Leading-Edge Diagnostic Services.
We know the health of your best friend is a top priority – it is for us, too. When it comes to diagnosing issues early and accurately, we use the latest technology to ensure you get the answers you need.

In-House Lab Testing for Fast Results.
Our in-house laboratory is one of the many ways we provide timely care. With our own lab right here in the clinic, we can run essential tests on blood, urine, and more – helping us get a clear picture of their overall health without waiting for results to come in from outside labs.
Lab tests are involved in many regular wellness appointments at Panorama, and also during emergencies when we need quick answers. We use our in-house lab for:
- Annual wellness exams: Routine bloodwork is key for spotting early signs of illness, even before symptoms appear.
- Sick pet diagnostics: If your dog or cat is feeling off, tests can help us diagnose infections, organ problems, or metabolic disorders.
- Pre-surgical screenings: If your furry friend is about to undergo surgery or anesthesia, we’ll make sure they’re healthy enough for the procedure.
- Managing chronic conditions: For ongoing health concerns like diabetes or kidney disease, regular tests help monitor progress.
Some of the Tests We Regularly Perform Include:
- Complete Blood Count (CBC) & Blood Chemistry: Checks organ function, hydration levels, and overall health.
- Urinalysis: Helps us detect infections, kidney issues, and diabetes.
- Fecal Testing: Identifies parasites, digestive issues, or infections.
- Cytology: Examine skin, ear or lump samples to check for infections or abnormal cells.
Because we can perform so many diagnostic tests right here in the clinic, we can take immediate steps toward diagnosing and treating your best friend.

X-Rays: A Closer Look at Bones and Organs.
X-rays are often the first step when we need a clear picture of what’s going on inside. These images allow us to look for signs of an injury, evaluate the severity of an injury or illness, or view abnormalities that might not be visible on the surface.
X-rays are especially useful for:
Fractures and Joint Issues
Whether dealing with a known injury or signs of arthritis, X-rays help us assess bones and joints.
Heart and Lung Health
We can evaluate lungs, heart size, and blood vessels to identify conditions like heart disease or lung infections.
Foreign Objects
If your pet has swallowed something they shouldn’t have, X-rays help us locate and assess the situation.
Organ Evaluation
We can check the size, shape, and condition of organs like the liver, kidneys, and bladder.
While many animals can stand still for X-rays, in some cases we may need to sedate them to ensure clear, accurate images. If this is the case, we’ll explain the process and provide any necessary instructions to make the experience as comfortable as possible.
Ultrasound: A Non-Invasive Way to See Inside.
Ultrasound imaging offers an excellent way to examine internal organs without the need for surgery. This technique uses sound waves to create real-time images of soft tissues like the heart, liver, kidneys, and bladder.
Ultrasound is particularly helpful for:
- Evaluating internal organs: We can get detailed views of the heart, liver kidneys, bladder, intestinal tract and lymph nodes.
- Pregnancy Detection: Ultrasound is a non invasive way to determine pregnancy.
- Detecting tumours: Ultrasound helps us locate and assess growths that might not be visible on X-rays.
- Investigating digestive issues: If your furry friend has been vomiting or losing weight unexpectedly, ultrasound can help pinpoint the cause.
In some cases, light sedation is recommended to help animals stay still during the procedure. For abdominal ultrasounds, fasting is often required to ensure the clearest images possible, and we will provide detailed instructions on how to prepare.

How to Prepare for a Diagnostic Appointment.
Each diagnostic test we offer may require specific preparation to ensure the best results. Here’s what you can expect:
- For blood work: Fasting may be required for specific tests and we will provide you with necessary instructions.
- For X-rays: Mild sedation may be required to help animals remain still during the imaging process. If this is needed, we’ll let you know ahead of time and guide you through the process.
- For an ultrasound: To improve image quality, we may recommend that your pet fast for 12 hours before the exam. Light sedation may also be used, especially for pets who need help staying calm.
Our team will always give you clear instructions for any preparation needed to ensure a smooth diagnostic experience.
