Equine Reproductive Services

       We offer comprehensive reproductive services for your mares including artificial insemination using either shipped fresh chilled semen or frozen semen.  We are within ten minutes of  the Kelowna International Airport for Canadian shipments and for USA semen shipments, FedEx delivers to our door within 24 hours.  (Starting in 2009 more stringent rules regarding the importaion of USA semen went into effect, but we have had good success with most American stallion stations in getting US semen into Canada in a timely manner).  

    We have comfortaable and safe accomodations either in stalls or in paddocks with shelters for mares or mares with foals at side.

     Timing is everything when it comes to breeding mares, and since we live on the farm where our practice is located, it is easy for us to check mares any time during the day or night to ensure insemination at the optimal time.

     We have an excellent teaser stallion and state of the art diagnostic ultrasound equipment to follow mares along in their cycles to ensure timely breeding.  Problem breeders are managed extensively and may undergo diagnostic procedures such as uterine cultures, cytolgy and histology, often followed by appropriate antibiotic therapy.  Hormonal therapy is often used to manipulate the mare's cycle to assist in the timing of ovulation or to manipulate the cycle to synchronize two of more mares or to better plan breeding times with semen availability. 

 

     Services for stallions include breeding soundness evaluations, semen collection for shipping or freezing, semen freezing, storage and distribution.  We have a great little spayed mare that all stallions seem to love that we use to help train novice stallions.
