Small Animal Services

Because of the shorter lifespan of our pets, we stress the importance of an annual physical examination. Thorough check-ups and preventive care can help alleviate serious health problems. We offer a wide range of veterinary services to keep your companions feeling their best:
Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: Our hospital is equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services to care for your pets' complete health care needs.
Acupuncture: We offer veterinary acupuncture for our small animal patients by Dr. Susan Wales who has passed certification exams through the International Veterinary Acupuncture Association and has been practicing acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine since 1997. See the separate link to IVAS in the links page.
Chinese Herbal Medicine : A full line of Chinese herbal medicine is offered for our small animal patients and can be used alone or in combination with regular western medicine. This is an added option that helps mostly in the treatment of chronic diseases such as allergic skin disease, degenerative conditions and cancer where often our western medicine is often found deficient . Herbal medicine represents another 'tool' in the 'toolbox'.
Chiropractic Care : We offer veterinary chiropractic care by Dr. Susan Wales who has also taken certification courses in veterinary chiropractics through the American Veterinary Chiropractic Association . See the Link to AVCA on the links page.
Surgical Services: Our state-of-the-art surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures.
Anesthesia: We utilize the safest available anesthetics to provide an extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients. Using the most modern equipment, the patient's vital signs are monitored during all anesthetic procedures.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, modern X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to aid in the quick diagnosis of many disorders. We also have the latest in Ultrasound equipment . We have direct links with board certified radiologists via the internet - and Pet-Rays, to assist us with these diagnostic modalities on a 24 hour basis.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as consultations with cardiology specialists.
Dentistry: Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, tooth extractions and oral surgery.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory facilities provide for hematology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We predominantly utilize a commercial veterinary laboratory for most of our laboratory diagnostics and consultations as we feel that the quality control is far superior to in house laboratory testing and gives us access to clinical pathology specialists for every case. The turn around time for blood samples is overnight.
Permanent identification: We offer tattooing and microchip identification.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, shampoos, flea and tick control products and heartworm preventatives to meet the needs of your pet. We also carry a full line of prescription diets. We also stock a herbal pharmacy as well as a wide variety of homeopathic medications for our alternate veterinary practice.
Dietary Counseling: We will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
